What is Cigaropolis ?

Welcome, friends, to Cigaropolis. My name is Matt, and this is my passion.  To me,  Cigaropolis is  a destination,  a  real place that I’ve had the pleasure of visiting and sharing with  many of you. Cigaropolis is a state of mind, accessible from backyards, porches, fishing boats, golf courses, garages (mine anyway…), and damn near anywhere else you can find the time to make some smoke. The only thing you’ll need is a good cigar.

I’ve created this site as a hobby and personal homage to what I believe is the ultimate form of relaxation.  A cigar has the power to create friends, free your thoughts, and ultimately force you to take stock of what life’s about.

This site is a place for those of you who understand exactly what the hell I’m talking about, and believe, as I do, that any cigar you like, is a good cigar.

Here at Cigaropolis you’ll find reviews, photos, cigar related news,  and postings from fellow cigar enthusiasts.  Comments are welcome, and anyone looking for a review or feedback on a particular cigar is encouraged to contact me.

Thanks  for visiting,

-Matt

Hey Vickram! Thanks for checking out the site! ‘La Gloria Cubana’ make an excellent, full bodied cigar. To balance out the spice you’re going to get from their blend of honduran / nicaraguan / mexican tobaccos, I’d recommend something full and smooth, like a good dark rum and coke. If that’s not your speed, try an older bourbon whiskey. If you like port, I think a nice traditional port would also balance nicely. Any more questions, drop me a line anytime. Let me know if you find a magic drink that works perfectly with the ‘Cubanas’ Cheers!

Hey Rubee, Having just returned from the “holy land” of cigars I have to stress that a box of Romeo Julietta Wide Churchills is a must. I found them in boxes of 10 for about $65 Canadian. Check out my recent review of them here on Cigaropolis.
The Bolivar Belicoso Finos were a big hit with me and don’t forget a box of Cohiba Behikis. You can get a box of 10 for about $185 Canadian. Not a bad price since I found them for $65 and up a stick here in Canada.
My final thoughts for you are to stick with the well known, highly touted Cuban cigars. They are well known for a simple reason…They are good.
I didn’t find any of the lesser known / less popular brands to be anything special. I bought lots of singles to try different cigars and only wound up buying the big name Cubans. Make sure you only, and I stress this ONLY buy your cigars at a La Cassa de Habanos authorized government store. If you don’t you will get FAKES for sure. I lost track of how many people tried to sell me fake cigars. Have an awesome trip and let me know what you come back with and what you like.
      Cheers

Hey Matt, greetings from Cigar Country (DR), congratulations on a great great site, the thing I love the most and sets you apart from the rest is that you portray yourself as a cigar lover, period, not like others who speak as if they were cigar apostles, your reviews are not only balanced and unbiased (they don’t look like paid advertisements, that’s rare in the blogosphere!), and you don’t feel you need to use a condescending or pretentious tone and last but not least the site’s design and layout are over the top! keep it up and thanks a lot for taking the time to do this and share it with us.
